When the Portland Sea Dogs were established, the team had a goal of being more than just a baseball team, the organization wanted to become a strong, active, contributing member of the community. Over the years the Sea Dogs have accomplished this in many ways including ticket donations, creating educational programs, speaking at civic organizations, visiting hospitals, and much more. Here is a small sampling of some of our community programs.

Schools throughout Maine and New Hampshire may choose to purchase tickets for their students at the lowest possible discounted rate. Depending on the ticket option selected, schools become eligible to either sing the National Anthem or Take Me Out to the Ballgame or select a participant to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game. Schools that qualify may also request a Sea Dogs player come to visit their school to talk about the importance of education, saying no to drugs and alcohol and what it is like to be a professional athlete. NextGen 529 supports this effort.
